Correlations each gender between body composi-tion and parameters of respiratory function and respiratory muscle strength were assessed using Pearsonʼs coefficient.\nResults: The segmental lean mass of males and females was positively correlated with vital capacity, inspiratory reserve volume, inspiratory capacity, and forced vital capacity. Segmental lean mass showed a positive correlation with maximum expiratory pressure only in males and a positive correlation with expiratory reserve volume only in females. One-second\nforced expiratory volume showed a strong positive correlation in males (right leg, r = 0.70).\nConclusion: Segmental lean mass showed a positive correlation with respiratory function and respiratory muscle strength in young healthy adults.
