Facilities for the elderly in the Greater Tokyo Area (Metropolitan Tokyo and Chiba, Kanagawa, and Saitama prefectures) were surveyed regarding attitudes. Chosen responses were cross-tabulated and open-ended responses were analyzed using text mining.Results indicated that the facilities surveyed were somewhat amenable to the use of nursing robots to care for individuals with dementia. Based on the terms identified by text mining, robots would prove useful in coordinating with medical facilities. Based on the apparent context, facilities for the elderly could readily purchase robots, and those robots could be tailored to certain specialties to provide individualized care to individuals with dementia.
