We regarded the values and thoughts of the nurses as their beliefs. And the purpose of the study this timewas to clarify the characteristics of the beliefs of nurses that specialize in educating and giving guidance to patients withdiabetes. The subject of the research were 13 nurses. To collect data, a semi-structured interview was held with the nurses.The results were analyzed by performing text mining with a software package called SPSS. The results showed that nurses'beliefs regarding patient education were [listen to the patients], [relationship of mutual trust], [instruction method], [askabout aims], [time and place], [speak to the patients], [compromise], [main focus on the patients], [provision of information],[convey one's role], [ordinary citizen], [look back on progress], [see the patients as a person], [do not have a preconception],[the power of the patients], [face the illness head on], [no subjective symptoms], [learning attitude] and [self-evaluation]. Thecharacteristics of the nurses' beliefs regarding patient education were that they were based on the viewpoint of the patient,and this suggested that nurses have a flexible and logical way of thinking that can eliminate stereotypes.
