In the present study, 706 university students wereassessed regarding the incidence of allergic diseases, related environmental factors, and the effects of drugs, supplements,and foodstuffs on the conditions. The majority of students had allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis (40.7%), atopicdermatitis (13%), and asthma (7.9%). More than half of the students with asthma or atopic dermatitis suffered from otherallergic diseases. Concerning the age at onset, allergic rhinitis and asthma occurring during and after the junior high schoolyears were more common in women. The risk of developing multiple allergic diseases was higher in students whose siblingshad an allergic condition, indicating a critical role of genetic factors in the development of the diseases. Students withallergic diseases were less likely to keep pets, particularly cats, at home, while the most common sensitizer of animal originwas cat allergens. Since drugs, supplements, and food products often fail to relieve allergic symptoms, and genetic factorsare immutable, it is necessary to eliminate the negative effects of environmental factors and promote preventive measures toreduce the development of allergic diseases during 人を対象に,アレルギー性疾患の発症状況と環境要因,さらに医薬品,サプリメントおよび食品の効果について解析した.本研究での有症率は,アレルギー性鼻炎40.7%,アトピー性皮膚炎13.0%,喘息7.9%
