Their answers were analyzed qualitatively.RESULTS: The following core categories of social support for mothers of children with ASD at the time of enrollment were identified: \"understanding of people around the mother,\" \"nurturing support of people around the mother,\" and \"support related to improving the social life of the child.\" Categories of support that were identified as lacking and most needed were \"resources for children with high-functioning ASD,\" \"understanding of children with ASD among members of the family and community,\" and \"rehabilitation support after enrollment in school.\"CONCLUSIONS: Due to the \"decline in rehabilitation support after enrollment in school,\" mothers of children having the same disability tend to band together, to network, to exchange information, and provide other forms of social support.
