Bystanders can play a large role in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and even students can be bystanders. In this study, we therefore identified the educational challenges associated with CPR by gaining an overview of the trends in CPR education in schools, and we conducted a search of the literature to aid in future training guidance for bystanders. Methods: Ichushi and CiNii were used to search the literature using the key words “junior high school student,” “high school student,” “university student,” “cardiopulmonary resuscitation,” and “education.” Results: The search produced 39 papers. Educational challenges for junior high school students were mastering the CPR technique and an incomplete training outcome. The educational challenge for high school students was difficult to identify due to the small number of papers. The educational challenges for university students were the establishment of appropriate CPR education and hesitation to participate in the workshops due to the lack of time or money. Ensuring the quality of educators was also a challenge.
