The data collected included records of their experiences of fighting against the disease, and were qualitatively analyzed.\nResults: Three phases of the experience were identified through the analysis of 14 situations; further, 71 types of care were identified. In the first phase, from the diagnosis of cancer to hospital admission, 7 types of care were ascertained through the analysis of two situations which included methods of caring, such as “understanding of anxiety and pain of cancer and tests.”In the second phase, which is admission and treatment, 36 types of care were ascertained through the analysis of seven situations, which included methods of caring, such as “independent treatment,” “holistic understanding,” and “protecting dignity.” In the third phase, which involves continuous treatment after discharge and follow-up observations, 28 types of care were ascertained through the analysis of five situations wherein methods of caring, such as “mental and physical distress and self-care during medical treatment at home” and “respecting ways of living and senses of value of individual patients,” were identified.\nConclusions: The results of the data analysis reflected the definition of the present study; it was noted that nurses are required to recognize and treat patients’ lives as significant. Further, there is a need for interventions that enhance individual potentialities.
