A cross-sectional study was conducted with the 150 subjects. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test was performed to compare the health-related QOL scale and SF-36v2 scores of the subjects and the standard values for healthy Japanese adults in the same age group as that of the subjects. The impact of the nutritional status assessed using the Mini Nutritional Assessment-short form (MNA-SF) on the SF-36v2 score was tested using logistic regression analysis.\nResults: The age (years; median [first quartile, third quartile]) of the 150 subjects was (69.0 [57.0, 78.3]). A comparison with the national standard values revealed a tendency for the subjectsʼ QOL to be low. The results of the logistic regression analysis indicated that MNA-SF nutritional status had an impact on bodily pain (odds ratio [OR]: 1.20, 95% confidence\ninterval [CI]: 1.0-1.4, p=0.04), general health perceptions (OR: 1.22, 95% CI: 1.0-1.5, p=0.04), vitality (OR: 1.34, 95% CI: 1.1-1.6, p<0.01), and the physical component summary of the three-component summary scores (OR: 1.24, 95% CI: 1.0-1.5, p=0.03). Bodily pain, general health, and vitality are part of the eight subscales. Age and sex were identified as the confounders that affected physical functioning, role physical, mental health, and social functioning.\nConclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that in predialysis patients with CKD, nutritional status is associated with health-related QOL to a certain
