Subjects participated in a semi-structured interview and their responses were qualitatively and descriptively analyzed.\nResults: Based on the survey of 10 participants, six broad categories and two core categories were extracted. The broad categories included experience of the process by understanding the limitations of what one can do to adapting to them, repeated struggles of living with and accepting one’s changing state, learning self-control abilities to maintain one’s lifestyle,and concerns about marriage and pregnancy. From these, we extracted one core category, i.e., trial and error to live with SLE. In addition, the broad categories included the constant feeling of frustration at not being able to work because the subjects hoped and showed remorse toward colleagues. This was partly attributed to the other broad category, i.e., difficulties experienced because of SLE not being recognized by the society, and this represented the other core category, i.e., the society perceived the lack of societal comprehension of SLE.
